  • 1.  How to remove old virus alert from console?

    Posted Dec 02, 2015 12:16 PM

    Hey All,

I'm trying to remove an old trojan alert from my SEP 12.1.6 console running on Windows server 2012 the client machine that had the trojan is running OSX. I thought running a scan that didn't find the trojan would clear the alert. It seems that the folder with the trojan was deleted months ago, so SEP may not not have a record of the trojan being removed.

    Thanks In Advance,

Typically that is how it should work. Has the client machine connected to the SEPM since being cleaned?

    Hello,

    Check this Article:

Endpoint Protection client warning: "Old Virus Definition File"

    http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH150078

To avoid seeing this message more than once on the client, on the pop-up notification window, clickDon't remind me again until after the next update, and then click Close

EDIT: Don't remind me again until after the next updateoption is only available on the client side pop up not in the SEPM.

In SEPM, does the action status on this file says "Left Alone"?

Was the risk detected on an external drive or internal drive?

Sorry guys, I think the virus is still present on the internal drive, but I couldn't see inside the user's Library directory. Dang macs, I'm still learning how to administrate them. I fixed that issue.  Now I think the real issue is that Symantec is finding a virus in this user's Library/Caches/com.gPonNh.GWqvQeb/fsCachesData/9F830846-DD7C-4F20-B9C5-79AD277CCA43 file. When I run a scan the status is "repair failed". Now how do I remove it?

Where do you see that alert? Could you post the screenshot.

    Hey Chetan,

I've already moved the infected file to a flash drive and run another scan which didn't report an infection. The user who's Library dir the file was in doesn't work here any longer, so I'm going to delete her account which I'm assuming will be good enough to resolve the issue.

    Thanks,
