We are running RHEL 2.6.18-398.el5 kernel version. Symantec support is telling me that this version is not supported and that I need 2.6.18-398 kernel. Everything I can find says that the el5 just stands for Enterprise Linux version 5. We can't find a version of the kernel that just says 2.6.18-398. I think that the support engineer is just trying to find a way out of the case because he really doesn't have a clue how to fix it but I wanted to see if anyone out here has any information to share about the different kernel versions.

    This is all a result of case# 09370758 .

The list of supported kernels is here:

Supported Linux kernels for Symantec Endpoint Protection

Maybe that's what is being referenced.

    I see this:

Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 Update 11 (2.6.18-398)

So it looks to be supported. I would ask support to escalate the case.

ᗺrian I agree with you but my support engineer is trying to say they are different. I'll ask to have it escalated.

    Hi,

Thank you for posting your query on Symantec community.

We looked into case# 09370758, it looks front level engineer has already consulted with Advanced team & have collected requested logs.

Senior Engineer is now working on this case now, Do you have Tripwire Enterprise agent installed on the machine?

We've answered this question multiple times. Yes we have Tripwire Enterprise Agent loaded on all the clients. Tripwire Enterprise is loaded on the SEPM server also.

The client we have been testing has 12GB of RAM. I have temporarily upgraded it to 20GB of RAM.

We have uninstalled the Tripwire Agent but the engineer is still trying to come up with bug fixes related to Tripwire. If it's uninstalled then it can't be running.
