  • 1.  How to shrink SEPM database on later versions of SEPM

    Posted Jan 30, 2020 05:06 AM

I have a relatively small environment (616 endpoints) that is being mnanaged by our installation of the SEP Manager but the database is 9.5Gb in size, which I think seems on the large side.  I know there is no tool to shrink the database in this version (14.2) and I have the maintenance tasks configured to run as follows:

    1. Truncate database trans logs (every 4 hours)

    2. Rebuild indexes (weekly @ 0200hrs on Mondays)

Am I correct in thinking this database is on the large side, and if so can take further steps to reduce its size and clean it up?

    Thanks

    Chris

    Hello chris,

I am assuming you are using the default (Embedded) Database with SEPM and not SQL.

Unfortunately, there is no shrink db tool available for SEP Manager 14.x.

If you need to reduce the size, the only option is to delete old client install packages in SEPM and lower the number of logs to keep.

I would prefer to keep logs as long as possible, but it's your choice :)

    OR

    Move to SQL DB.

    Thanks Mithun,

I thought as much.  I haven't actually removed old installation packages so I may do that and see if it makes a difference.  I agree about keeping the logfiles, so will have a look and see what I can do.

    Thanks again for your help,

    Chris
