  • 1.  Error: 1714 The old version of Symantec Endpoint Protection cannot be removed.

    I am trying to install the SEP Client v11. MR4 software and during install I get failures to read/validate the Symantec Antivrus.MSI file.
    After a few tries to cancel then a message giving the Error 1714 comes up as indicated int he title of this submission.
    Is there a tool or utility to remove old instances?

    Yes, the tool you need is Cleanwipe. You will need to call into support to get this though.

    Call support and get a copy of latest cleanwipe utility it will handy for these types of issues in future as well.
    The alternate solution you wouldn't like but still

    Follow manual removal sep.
