"Server Error in '/ProcessManager' Application" Error Occurs When Trying to Log Into ServiceDesk

Mar 15, 2011 03:52 PM

This error can occur when trying to log into ServiceDesk, especially for the first time. Here is a screenshot:

(click on image for larger view)

This occurs when ServiceDesk cannot authenticate to the SQL database. ServiceDesk has two places where it needs service account credentials. The service account is a domain account.

The first location requiring these credentials is on the Log On tab in Properties for the Logicbase 2006 Server Extensions service  (Windows 2003) or Advanced Settings for the Symantec Workflow Server service (Windows 2008 R2).

The second location is the Identity tab in the Properties for the Default App Pool in Internet Information Services (IIS).

After changing these settings, you will need to reset IIS and restart the service (as above, by operating system).

Also if using a domain service account to install your workflow, you must apply:

http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH41193

to be sure "NETWORK SERVICE" able to write under temp & donet folders;

check also SQL authorization if local for ntwork service; and activated Named Pipe

http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH41741

If external SQL: adding DOMAIN\server_name$ to local administrator group on SQL as said Nova_Logic :)

And change the default identity "ApplicationPoolIdentity" to "NetworkService" in the "ProcessManagerPool" under IIS application pools. (avdanced settings / Process Model:Identity)

If this were solved a current issue yours, thanks to tell use there ;)

Or you can solve this problem by adding DOMAIN\server_name$ to local administrator group on SQL-server.
