Download Cleanwipe tool to remove Symantec Endpoint Protection.

May 08, 2017 11:23 AM

Hello Everyone,

You can use several methods to uninstall the Symantec Endpoint Protection product components, such as through the Windows Control Panel. If these common methods fail, you can use the CleanWipe utility.

Warning:

Symantec Technical Support does not recommend using CleanWipe the first time you have uninstallation trouble. You should only use CleanWipe as a last resort when the usual uninstallation methods are unsuccessful.

You should always use the latest version of CleanWipe to remove Symantec Endpoint Protection. CleanWipe can remove older installations of Symantec Endpoint Protection. However, you should not use an older version of CleanWipe to remove a newer version of Symantec Endpoint Protection. This action can have unexpected results.

Refer this guide: Uninstalling Symantec Endpoint Protection with the CleanWipe utility

http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO124983

Cleanwipe tool is available to download in the article shared above.

It´s a pity for us. Unfortunately we left Symantec and now we need to uninstall it remotely on over 500 Clients.
A perfect way would be to do this thru GPO but there are a lot of different agent versions. So i think this would work https://www.symantec.com/connect/articles/uninstall-sep-client-through-gpo but we´ve to create a lot of different versions.

Hi Chetan ,

I want to give an information from customer side.

They are complain and asking about why Symantec shares this critical utility to the public ? As i remember CleanWipe bypass password protection and able to clean SEP agent with even password protected.

Sometimes it's hard to explain this situation to some customers. Could you clarify this point for customer side ?

Best regards,

Unable to download the tool for 12.1.6 MP6. Can you provide a fresh link. There is no page found in this link

Try correct URL: https://support.symantec.com/en_US/article.HOWTO124983.html

There isn't any issue from our end.
