What is Driver Manager?

ENGL Driver Manager™ is an enterprise driver management solution for Ghost Solution Suite (GSS) 3.x that reduces costs by simplifying and automating the process of finding compatibile Windows drivers for a machine model.

Searching for drivers

Driver Manager uses hardware inventory to match the most compatible drivers for the OS and platform you are deploying.

For each machine model in your organisation:

1. Hardware import - Using our DMScanner tool, inventory for a machine is collected and imported into the Driver Manager console.
2. Driver discovery - Once a machine has been imported a request for the latest hardware drivers for a specified Windows version and platform (e.g. Windows 10 64-bit) is sent to the ENGL Driver Repository web service.
3. Driver download - A Driver Pack will have been created that contains driver download details matching the hardware inventory.
4. Driver analysis - Drivers will be extracted and analysed to identify the most appropriate installation method to be used during deployment.
5. Integration - Driver Packages containing drivers for a machine model/OS/platform will be stored on the GSS eXpress or other share.

Driver installation

To install drivers as part of your GSS deployment job, create a Run Script task to run ENGL Driver Installer in WinPE following image restore. Driver Installer will send hardware inventory to the ENGL Driver Manager Query Service (DMQS) on the GSS server, which will return the eXpress share path containing drivers for that machine model and OS/platform. The drivers are then injected into the Windows OS.
