Hi,

I'm having a problem with new ThinkPads T14 Gen 2i and T14 Gen 3.

The client boots into WinPE11 and the task stops with the following log entries.

[2022/12/06 11:04:26.939 1736:1728 *ERRR] Boot To Task: Task failed, RebootException occured 'Failed to find any UEFI boot device, the following devices are available: Windows Boot Manager, USB CD, USB FDD, PXE BOOT, NVMe0, USB HDD, LENOVO CLOUD, ON-PREMISE, Other CD, Other HDD', return code 0, system error 'Element not found (0x00000490)', location 'rebootto.cpp:243'

PXE-Boot is enabled, no legacy option available. Altiris is on version 8.6 RU3 plus latest point fixes.

Complete log is attached.

Thanks, JT

Hello JT,

What is configuration of BootTo task on server side. Do you use "UEFI Boot media" option? if yes, what media devices are listed there?

Thanks,
Roman

Hi Roman,

hmmm, can not reply to your answer, but to my question :)

We use this setting for all other clients.

I tried this. Not working, same error.

Don't bother about "WinPE10". WinPE11 is inside.

It would be useful to find a setting for all clients. T460s to lastest models.

Thanks.

Hi JT,

May you please try to add new Boot Media(under Select Boot Media dialog) with Name = 'PXE BOOT' and Type = 'Network'. Then try to boot your device after that.

Thanks,
Roman

Hello Roman,

Understood. I have to find all variations from different models and add them to the list.

One new machine was handed over to the end user. Maybe I can reinstall the Gen 3 tomorrow. My workaround was to remove the failure check from the task. This way I could see all faulty variations in the output and add the strings to the list.

I will try it as soon as possible.

Remote work, apprentice in the office... Life isn't easy these days.

Thank you.

Just tested a VMware machine. UEFI boot media entry has to be "EFI Network".

Hi Roman,

finally I was able to test on Friday. Your suggestion was the solution.

Thanks,
JT.

I had the same problem with the "LENOVO X13" on Altiris 8.7. Indeed, if the "Boot to PXE" fails, I launch a "Boot to UEFI" task with a network/"PXE BOOT" entry, which is then successful.

However, once the master image is downloaded to the disk, when the "boot to production" task is sent, when the computer restarts, it blocks indicating that the UEFI configuration is corrupted, that it will be reset to default and offers to reconfigure manually or not.

To be sure, that it is not "Boot to UEFI", which alters it incorrectly, I removed it and made sure to ignore the error when "PXE BOOT" appears in the result. But the result is still the same, BIOS detects UEFI corruption.

We carried out tests on several LENOVO X13. Note that on Altiris 8.1, which has the same jobs and tasks (source of the migration of new servers to 8.7), these problems are not present.
