Hello,

We have been using GSS 3.3 RU9, and when trying to renew our license for this year (2023-2024) we noticed the product name changed as well as a significant price increase (est. $20 increase per seat).  I have reached out to Support live chat but there were unable to provide a breakdown of what the difference in the products are and ascertain why there could be such a price increase.  Support suggested that I ask the community in hopes there is someone who can provide some insight.

Has anyone migrated to EPM from GSS 3.3?

Was there a significant difference in UI, features, security, etc?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

thank you!

Hi Chris,

We don't have an "EPM" or "EPM GSS" product. "EPM" is an acronym for our Symantec Endpoint Management (EPM) product portfolio.

The EPM portfolio includes both our Ghost Solution Suite product (with a version for devices with client operating systems such as Windows 10/11 and a version for servers with operating systems such as Windows Server or various Linux distributions) and our IT Management Suite family of products.  The IT Management Suite family of products includes IT Management Suite, Client Management Suite and Server Management Suite.

Ghost Solution Suite is primarily used for imaging and provisioning, while the IT Management Suite family of products provides full IT lifecycle management capabilities, including hardware and software inventory, software delivery, patch management, Modern Device Management, the ability to manage devices that are not connected to the network (Cloud Enabled Management), etc.

The current version of Ghost Solution Suite is 3.3 RU11 and the current version of the IT Management Suite family of products is 8.7.

I can't speak to pricing.  That's something you would need to discuss with your sales person.

I hope this helps.
