Nothing so far. I don’t think it’s coming out.

Of course, it's an abadonware, they forgot to tell you. LoL

I believe focus is on Email Security.Cloud. SMG will get updates but not as frequently. Cloud-first with an option to run on-premises.

    Hi,

I know the focus is on .Cloud, but on-prem should be also maintained :(

But it is maintained? As far as i know SMG is actively developed.

I don’t see enough updates and features to say that it is. I have been asking for years of awesome features and I’m still waiting.

I wouldn't bet on anything that requires any major architectural changes though, but that's just me guessing.. Care to share what features you have requested?

    Better loging
    More ldap settings
Throttling of inbound / outbound based on sender / recipient and IP address
Bifurcation of both inbound and outbound
More routing paths for content filters
In the audit logs show what ip was attempted for failrues

Ironport does all these above things, hmmmmm....

There is a release tentatively scheduled for the fourth quarter of this year.
While I am not allowed to talk about specific features and functions, I just want to point out that it is intended to be more than just a maintenance/bug-fix release.

Well I guess we could crank out another maintenance release, skipping all the features, and get it out sooner, but then people might start calling us "abandonware".  :O

No way, we need a relase soon. I am seeing cobwebs on the Symantec website

There is a lot more "transparency" around other Symantec products regarding upcoming features which i believe would be beneficial for SMG customers to.

I get that Security.Cloud is prioritised, but during users groups as an example there has been no mentioning around SMG for a long time. Like it doesn't exist. So i can understand alexander-smg reaction.

We came from Cisco to Symantec three years ago to consolidate around one vendor and be able to integrate with our other solutions.

There has been a lot more development around AsyncOS during this period as a comparison.

The only major feature to us has been the WebPulse integration which has been great, but it still lacks basic functionality like exclusions.

    Hi,

I completely agree. Security .Cloud is a good solution, but many customers want to have the email gateway on-prem.
Besides also Proofpoint has a quite good on-prem gateway :)

I think when Broadcom declares that he has cloud but also on-prem solutions, both should be on the same position. If cloud is the priority, then on-prem should be ended.

    Nice.

I don't fully agree on the last part. It's natural that the focus product gets more resources allocated, it's not 50/50 just because you have two solutions.

But as i sayed before, Broadcom should be transparent about the intention and their view going forward. Is the product just a "we support on-premises" checkbox or is it in active development with resources to compete with customers other options for on-premises.

I would only stick with on-premises because i need to (Regulations and so on). Doing it just because i want to is not a viable alternative in the long term imho.

No man. Smg on prem gateway updates are less and less these days.

    2020 - 10.7.4
    2021 - 10.7.5
    2022 - 10.7.6 (?)

    Abandonware? No. Definitely no.

    Hi Pavel,

franky I am happy, that Broadcom does not plan to end SMG. But on the other side, one releases per year is too slow.
Also my customers are asking on this. Also there are no roadmaps available, to see what is the focus in development. I have asked local SE for roadmaps, but he also didn't know anything. There are no webinars focused on SMG, only sometimes there are regarding Email .Cloud. When I ask live during the webinar on SMG, nobody answers..

    Hi Rudolf,

"...one release per year *last few years*" - I'm not sure, but I think - in
2019 was only 1 (10.7.3) or, may be 2 releases.

And you are totally right - no roadmaps and no people who heard about
roadmap or saw roadmap. Or who heard about people who heard about the
    roadmap.
