    The Essential Security Products group of Broadcom's Identity Management Security division is pleased to announce the general availability of Symantec IT Management Suite 8.6 RU3. 

    Highlights of the release include:

    • Patch Management Solution – install software updates as part of the imaging/provisioning process
    • Patch Management Solution – distribute and report on compliance regarding software updates that cannot be automatically downloaded from vendor *
    • Patch Management Solution – filter Compliance by Computer report by Severity or Custom Severity
    • Patch Management Solution – filter Compliance by CVE ID report by CVSS v2 and CVSS v3 scores *
    • Patch Management and Software Management Solution – option to not install packages if computer running on battery power
    • Deployment Solution – Linux UEFI and 64-bit support
    • Deployment Solution – create preboot .ISO file to support remote imaging
    • Basic Inventory – identify machines running under Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization (RHEV) and Google Compute Engine (GCV) hypervisors as virtual machines
    • End user notification tasks – display messages using WebView 2 (Chromium-based Edge framework) rather than ActiveX
    • Maintenance windows – execute system restart as last task in maintenance window on Linux and Mac computers
    • Symantec Management Agent support
      • Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Oracle Linux 8.5
      • Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Oracle Linux 8.6
      • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.0
      • SUSE 12 SP5
      • Ubuntu 22.04 LTS
    • Notification Server support for Windows Server 2022
    • Symantec Management Console
      • Computer view displays maintenance window status
      • Computer view - option to display only active policies
      • Reports to identify tasks and policies configured to be executed under specified account
      • Report providing overview of all tasks to be executed in the future
      • Item tracking - track all changes made under specified folder
    • Symantec Installation Manager – ability to load license files with future start dates


    * These features involve changes to both the product and the Windows patch management data feed.  The changes to the product are incorporated in the ITMS 8.6 RU3 release.  Changes to the data feed are expected to be made within approximately one month from the product release date.  The new features can be used after the changes to the data feed are made.

    Hello Mike, I am not seeing anything about fixing the XML import within VIEWS when using Chrome and Edge. This appeared to have broke when either Java or Silverlight was removed in SMP 8.1. The XML import pops up and then goes away or never pops up.

    The case number was created by our ITMS support vendor in late 2019.  I created a thread in Mid 2022: I have to restart my browser before I can import an XML file | Client Management Suite (
    I am contacting my colleagues now to see if they still have the case number.  I am still using 8.6 RU2, so I don't know if RU3 will resolve the import issue.

    Awesome, thank you. I probably won't upgrade the environment until next month or Early October. But we have been waiting on a fix for so long that I may be able to get the approval done for this month.
