  • 1.  Exception to print .pdf files Adobe reader

    Hello!
I'm trying to make an exception just for printing Adobe Reader files, but it didn't work, I've tried adding an exception for the printer/fax protocol and Adobe PDF or including the *.pdf extension, but it keeps crashing, any ideas on how to do it?

    Hello,
This depends on what you are trying to do..

If you are trying to ALLOW people to print files (word, excel etc) to a PDF file.. then do the following
    • You can do this in the Agent Configuration (channel filters).. there is a section at the bottom "Filter by Printer Properties"
    • In that section you can whitelist  printers by name or wildcard.
    • Use *PDF* or more specific and that should white list all Printers with the name PDF in it. (Adobe PDF, Microsoft Print to PDF etc.)
    • Make sure to update the agent groups with the new configuration after you have mad the change.
If you are trying to ALLOW people to print any PDF file..then do the following
    • You will need to go to the Global Application Monitoring Section
    • Find the Application that you are using to view and create PDF files (Adobe Reader etc)
    • Edit the Application Information and uncheck the Printer/Fax box.
      • This will no longer inspect that application when it prints anything.
    • Keep in mind that if you do that, some one could print a Word Document to PDF and then use Adobe to print the file without ANY inspection or policy violation. So be careful what you allow to be printed without any inspection.
