  • 1.  Atrshost high memory consumption during RHEL7 import

    Hi,

I am having a problem while importing RHEL7 metadata. The Task Server uses every memory he can get. Windows import seems to be ok.

It's not a websocket problem. I remove websocket in roles and features and disabled it in NS, Site Server and communication settings.

Almost forgot, SMP 8.7 plus latest point fixes. SMP_SMA V3, SMF V1, TS V1... Last is for remote TS only.

    Thanks,
    JT.

click on "View recent tasks.." link to see what other tasks are also is running during PMimport task or there is only single PMimport task is running?

    Best regards,
    IP.

    Hi Igor,

no other tasks or jobs are running. After downloading the metadata memory consumption jumps to the maximum while starting to import.

    Thanks,
    JT.

I checked the windows import again. Memory of atrshost is below 200M.

I don't see lot of memory usage by Altiris Object Host service when PMImport for RHEL7 channel is running (ITMS 8.7 with PF on Windows 2022 Server)

Service memory usage was 200mb before I started PMimport task and now it only consumes ~500mb (despite that there are other client tasks are running as well)

Probably that 3gb memory usage remained from other activities.
You can restart Altiris Object Host Service and then start PMImport to make sure that such memory usage caused exactly by PMimport.

    Best regards,
    IP.

    Hi Igor,

I restarted service and system several times. Now I gave it 8GB in my lab. Before it was 6GB.

Atrshost still consumes 3GB, but at least the task runs and the system doesn't freeze. Nothing else is running. I only saw an AD import and an assessment scan on the 2016 server.

    Thanks,
    JT.

The less errata inside, the lower consumption
    3GB: > Operation completed: Importing packages, result=succeeded, imported=33672, failed=0, total time=00:17:52.2979191
    388M: > Operation completed: Importing bulletins, result=succeeded, imported=5124, failed=0, total time=00:07:24.2669412

    Hi JanTorsten Hobohm!

I also had 3.2gb memory usage by AtrsHost process, during import of packages for RHEL7 channel

But this memory usage just a temporary phase since there is a lot of data during import, after sometime memory usage decreased back from 3.2gb to 250mb while import is still running and there is bulletins import phase

and finally it took 1 hour 15 minutes to import Errata: 9067 and Software Updates 136615 and memory usage is normal

    Hi Igor,

so we agree it works as designed. Problem was that my lab had a lack of memory. PM import for RedHat uses a lot of temporary memory.

Now I'm prepared for that customer who wants Linux PM and can tell him "we need more memory".

    Thanks,
    JT.
