NEW RELEASE: Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1.5 is Now Available

Oct 06, 2014 03:00 AM

Today, Symantec released Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1.5, which includes significant feature enhancements in terms of performance and management.

Last year, Symantec saw a 91% increase in targeted attack campaigns, which lasted an average of three times longer than in 2012. For those in the security industry, it should come as no surprise that these sophisticated threats are not stopped by antivirus alone. Protection requires leveraging the collective wisdom of the world’s largest Global Intelligence Network (GIN), with data from hundreds of millions of users and sensors across Symantec’s network to stay ahead of today’s mutating malware.

Derived from GIN and stronger than ever, the unique Insight™ technology in Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1 blocks new and mutating threats and enables faster scan times by accurately identifying file reputations and scanning only at-risk files. Meanwhile, SONAR™ stops zero-day threats by monitoring file behavior in real-time. Powered by these intelligent security technologies, Symantec Endpoint Protection provides 5 layers of protection, including not only strong antivirus but also Network Threat Protection with IPS and Firewall to protect your business against targeted attacks and advanced persistent threats.

Key new features in Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1.5

  • Power Eraser Integration: Trigger the Power Eraser scan and remediate infections remotely from the Symantec Endpoint Protection Management(SEPM) console
  • Linux Client Management Integration: Manage Linux clients through the SEPM, configuring AV policies for Linux as you would Windows or Mac
  • Host Integrity Checking: Integration of features formerly available as part of Symantec Network Access Control - host integrity, quarantine location and peer-to-peer enforcement
  • Bandwidth Throttling:  Flexible control over the number of connections and bandwidth to reduce network load
  • Content deltas: Allows customers to cache more revisions by reducing the number of full definitions delivered, saving up to 95% of disk space by merging content delta
