  • 1.  Symantec Endpoint Encryption Management Server - Default login

    I need to install the vmware tools on the Symantec Endpoint Encryption Management server but i cannot find the default login anywhere to get access to the console.

     

    I have tried the admin user that has been created during the First time config but it does not work.

    I am assuming you have installed Symantec Encryption Management Server 3.3.X. You will need to install vmware tool using virtual machine console after setting up root paswword. A link to a knowledge base which will help you understand and perform this on SEMS.

    I have installed SEMS3.3.2

    How do i setup the root password? The console presents me with a prompt: login:

    I tried root with blank password but it does not work

    You should never be able to login as root.  You will only need to use that root login if the server is unable to be SSH'd into such as a config error.

    The way to get access to the CLI is via SSH + PuTTy.

    Alex is correct, you should never unlock the root user account on the server unless directed to by support for very specific reasons.

    You should set up SSH access as shown in this article:

    Then install VMware tools through the SSH command line as shown in the following:
