  • 1.  EMC networker backup problem

We have Exchange 2016 (IP less DAG) on Windows Server 2016 and we use EMC Networker for backup mailbox databases. After installation SEP 14.0.1 (or 12.1.6) client on Exchange server, backup doesn't work. Stopping SEP client (smc -stop) doesn't help. When I uninstall SEP client, backup works properly. There are no errors/events in SEP client logs. I don't know what could I try. Any suggestion?

First, what components of SEP are installed and in use?

The first one that comes to mind is the firewall component but I won't speculate. Any traffic blocks would show up in the Traffic log though. This article can be referred for testing application issues with the SEP firewall:

    http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH203497

I would start by installing SEP with only the AV component to see what the result is. You can add back each additional component one at a time to see which one is the culprit.

    Based on this article:

    http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH102400

...SEP should automatically detect and add AV exclusions for Exchange.

I've updated to 14.0.1 MP1 with no success.

I've uninstall all components (except AV) with no success.

I've stopped SEP client service with no success.

Backing up exchange databases with EMC Networker module for Microsoft (NMM) doesn't work with SEP client installed :-(

Open a support case and have them begin root cause analysis.
