SEPv11 client Footprint on HDD - 450MB?

  • 1.  SEPv11 client Footprint on HDD - 450MB?

Were evaluating SEPv11 and it's been pointed out that Windows Add/Remove programs shows the client using 450MB of disk space. Is this correct?

According to the FAQ http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/ent-security.nsf/docid/2007071909500548 it should be around 21MB of space on the hard drive.

What is the Symantec Endpoint Protection client footprint?
The footprint when all components (AntiVirus, AntiSpyware, firewall, device control, IPS) are active is 21MB space on the hard drive. The RAM footprint is between 20-25MB.

Is there a bug with the reported space being used or is the FAQ incorrect? When I install AV only or all components the size on disk does not change.

Yes the size is correct. Here's a screenshot of another machine.

If this is the case the FAQ is incorrect or misleading.

The memory footprint is in the stated range ~25MB.  The hard drive foot is the 450MB.

Based on this, I would have to agree with "thatdude"...the FAQ is incorrect.

Usually mistakes like this are close but 21MB is nowhere close to 450MB

I'm glad the system requirements are correct but the FAQ is incorrect and I've read different PDF documents from Symantec reflecting the same.

I've also tried the option to not create a single installer so I could only install AV but I still get the 450MB footprint.

The size will be constant, features doesn't matter.
Even if you don't install any feature just select core components. Still all features get installed on your computer but remains disabled.
Thats the reason you can add and remove features from add/remove programs locally on any computer.

Yes it appears that the FAQ is incorrect, I have sent out a couple emails to see who I can talk to to get that resolved. Thanks for pointing out the mistake.

    Thanks
