I'm running the latest Windows 10 Pro 1809 with SEP 12.1.6 and noticed that Event ID 17 (Security Center failed to validate caller with error DC040780) appears every 5 minutes in my Windows Application event log.  A quick Internet search seems to indicate it's antivirus related where my Security Center service is running.  Is this error a known issue with SEP 12.1.6 and Win10 Pro 1809?  Doesn't seem to be affecting my workstation's functionality but was wondering if there was a fix to stop this repeating event log entry; aside from upgrading SEP.  Thanks in advance!

It happens with many of the third party AV vendors that microsoft comes up with this error.

You could try the tip in this article and see if that helps

Yes...I've seen this resolution elsewhere although not sure if it's a good idea or not to disable the services.  Curious if this error also comes up with the latest version of SEP 14 on Win10 1809?

I'm not sure Clint I'm sure if Symantec can fix the issue they will but looks like a fundimental way the windows 10 works with 3rd party security products. Probably an issue for Microsoft to fix.

Yes, it is showing in SEP v14 with Windows 10 1809. Do you know if this event causes any issues?

Like Clint, I've got SEP 12.1.6, and I also noticed this issue right after upgrading to Win 10 version 1809.

The good news is that it looks like SEP is still functional.  The Event Viewer is just going to get clogged up with these messages, but it's more of a nuisance than anything else.  (There were previous versions of Win 10 where certain versions of SEP would not function at all, but that doesn't seem to be the case here.)
