We're talking about 2 completely different products. 1 for home use (Norton), 1 for enterprise (SEP)
They both use the same technology so what you speak of should not be affected,
The biggest difference is SEP needs to be configured as its out of the box settings do not cut it. This is most likely so that when it is deployed in the enterprise, it will not break everything and allows the admins to monitor and make changes as necessary.
Bottom line is if you use SEP at home, make sure you go thru and adjust the settings as they may not be as strong. This isn't a defect but by design since SEP is meant for the enterprise.
