    Is it possible to change the liveupdate download directory to a different drive?
    On 2008... I want to change C:\ProgramData\Symantec\LiveUpdate\Downloads to the D drive

    ===

    In C:\ProgramData\Symantec\LiveUpdate\Downloads, I have .zip folders dating as back as 4/16/09 (I think this is when SEPM was installed). My "content revisions to keep" is set at 30. Shouldn't the older folders be deleted?

    Thanks,

    My question is, why are the folders from 4/16/09 still there?
    I don't think I have any corrupt defs. I did change the cache size to 500 MB.

    Hi bjohn,

    Because LiveUpdate is shared between all of our products, moving the LiveUpdate directory currently isn't supported. If you need this directory to be somewhere else I would suggest using LiveUpdate Administrator, you can customize the download directory as well as many other options.

    This document may explain why there are older files in there:

    Title: 'LiveUpdate Downloads folder contains a lot of older files'
    Document ID: 2008091013274848
    > Web URL: http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/ent-security.nsf/docid/2008091013274848

    I just looked in my own, and there were files in there dating back to 2006!  However, my maximum cache size is set to over a GB.  :)  You should be okay to manually remove anything that old.

    Liveupdate is designed in such a way that it goes to the C drive , you cannot move this to a  diffrent drive.
    Not only symantec If you have any other software installed and that downloads defntion or upadtes on a daily basis will be on the C Drive.

    Refer to the above kb for your second question, it has been answered  there.

    Extracts from the Kb

    "When LiveUpdate is installed, the value of the maximum cache size is generated randomly. Usually it is between 150 and 190 MB. Sometimes it can be more than 800 MB. The maximum cache size limits the size of the download folder. Once the limit exceeds, files will be deleted. The deletion is random, regardless to size, age, or other parameters of the files. "

    Also if you want these zip files can be deleted from the download folder , there is no harm in it
