    Our desktop team is locked down with in the SMC to prevent some catastrophe's that have happened in the past.

    I would like our desktop staff to be able to:

    1) See the page "Resource Membership Update" found here: Settings-Notification Server-Resource Membership Update

    2) On the "Resource Membership Update" page I would like them to be able to click the "RUN" button to force a "Delta update schedule" update immediately.

    What is the reason for the update? Are you adding Computers to Filters and want Targets to update so machines get Software Policies? There are some Tasks you can use. Manage > Jobs and Tasks Notification Server > Update Filter Membership Another option is creating a Workflow and using the ASDK and Web Services to give certain Users functionality in the NS in an appropriate manner.

    Thank you for the reply!

    I love the idea of doing a Workflow and using the ASDK and Web Services... Do you have any recommendations regarding a starting point for documentation/literature to familiarize myself with that option?

    Regardless, I would still like to understand and be able to utilize security controls in a granular nature for our support staff. I will be glad to look at the alternatives you list but I would still like to be able to manage/perform the specific modification to rights as listed above.

    There’s a group here on Connect http://www.symantec.com/connect/product/workflow-solution-0 There’s a number of Articles explaining how to use WF in various ways and you can always ask more questions here. There’s also a help file (.chm) on the SMP server which has examples of methods from the various WSs. Security controls aren’t that easy to tame in the SMP, as you probably know from locking them down already. There are likely questions around here that will give you suggestions at what to change where but unlocking one thing can tend to lead to unlocking other places you don’t want. We’ve built wrappers around it for this very reason. The options you want I’d say were quite advanced so prob don’t have a specific permission tied to them but Support might have an answer.
