  • 1.  SEP 11.0.4 Outlook Auto-Protect Sets Temporary Attribute on Attachments (Files don't replicate in DFSR)

    Posted Mar 12, 2009 05:49 PM

I just discovered an issue with Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.0.4 causes issues with DFSR Replication.

Apparently Outlook Auto-Protect causes email attachments that are saved to have the hidden "Temporary File" attribute set.  DFSR doesn't replicate files with the temporary file attribute by design.   Because of this, any user who saved a file from Outlook to our file servers was unable to replicate those files between offices.

These Links explain the DFSR issue:

Is this a known SEP issue?  Are you planning to fix this Symantec?

I've since disabled Outlook Auto-Protect, though any help would be appreciated

The only solution for this is to disable the outlook plugin.
You may contact tech support and report about this issue so that they can get in this next release.

As of SEP version 11.0.5002.333 this bug is still occuring. Outlook Auto-Protect is setting the "Temporary" file attribute on attachments saved from Outlook. Among other things, this prevents Microsoft Office Groove from synchronizing the files if they are in a workspace.

Are there any plans to fix this bug?

    Thanks,

If you're experiencing this, if you have not opened a Support case, please do.  A suspected bug can't be fixed unless we get cases through official channels (through Support).

This is not an official support vehicle for Symantec, this is a public and community driven forum for all of us to collaborate and help each other.

If you have a suspected bug, you need to open an official support case and get assigned a support ticket number.

Good luck!  Keep us updated on your progress.
