  • 1.  USB Boot hangs @ "Starting PC DOS"

    Posted Sep 14, 2007 01:35 PM
Just got back from traing seminar in Atlanta, Ga w/ binary research / big bang. I learned how to create bootable USB sticks. It worked great in the test environment. But, I'm back in office and tried the same thing and the computer just hangs at "Starting PC DOS...".

Using GSS2, Created bootable usb in the boot wizard, "boot from usb" is enabled in Bios, try to boot using USB and it just hangs at "Starting PC DOS...". I have tried recreating the bootable usb several times using the specific driver template for the card and using the UDP, both hang.

Any help would be very appreciated.

    Hi,

Have you tried MS-DOS instead of PC-DOS? Some computers will boot one but not the other so it is a good first thing to try when you see this behavior.

Please let me know how you get on with MS-DOS, if it still fails I will investigate further.

I tried that using the "MSDOS format" from an XP pro box, but when I put that disk in the ghost server it gave me an error stating that it was an invalid version of MSDOS.

You need to source a Windows 98 se boot floppy and MS-DOS client. Simply do a search on the web.
