  • 1.  Slow resume from hibernation with PGP WDE

Resuming from hibernation in Windows 7 SP1 consistently takes 124 seconds.  Computer specs as follows:

    • HP Elitebook 8540w
    • Intel SSD X-25M 160GB
    • Intel Quad Core i7-720
    • 8GB RAM
    • Windows 7 64-bit
    • PGP 10.1.1 [build 29]

Whole Disk Encryption is enabled and the drive has finished encrypting.

I would think that resume from hibernation should take 15 seconds at most (gauging from other computers that don't have PGP WDE).  (hibernation is also slow, but I haven't timed it; probably close to the same time)

    Any ideas?

You could try updating your version of PGP Desktop.  We made some improvements to PGP desktop 10.1.2 to include support for Windows 7 SP1. Technically speaking any PGP Desktop version >10.1.2 is not supported for Windows 7 SP1.

Are you able to reproduce this problem on more than one machine in your environment? Or is it specific to that laptop or that model of laptop?

Ah, you're right.  A pc that I have without SP1 takes only 45 seconds to resume from hibernation (still a bit slow, but manageable).

Since PGP is managed by corporate IT, I can't upgrade to PGP 10.1.2 yet, but they will probably roll it out eventually.

    Thanks.
