    What is the correct way to change the name of a machine keeping all your previous information without losing the history?

    Hi RodrigoPInheiro.

     

    Altiris manages the machines using the GUID value instead of the machine name. So, in this case, you can change the machine's name without any data loss.

    Hi Fernando Romano,I performed this procedure and actually replaced the machine name with all its history, but the other day the old name was created again without any additional information. See attachment: Old nameUNITA0096, new name UNBHZ6000001.

    Is this happended just one time? Is there an image created withtout sysprep run? No one has changed the machine's name to the old one? The computer with the new name disappered from your console?

    This occurred during the first naming test. The machine name for the old one was not changed again. The computer with the new name remains on the console with all the complete information.
