    Is it possible to deploy an image on a brand new pc just packed out of the box

    or do i need to set it up and then install an agent?

    You can deploy an image to a new system - depending on what your environment is, you might have to change a few settings in the Firmware (aka BIOS) first. Such settings would be Wake on Lan, Wakeup source being a Remote Server, Boot order (i.e. NIC first), device excplusions in case you want to utilize Bitlocker...

     

    But the general answer remains Yes.

    okay so if i enable pxe and make it boot up in pxe it should find the server?

    but how will it find the pc without a altiris client on?

    Unknown clients will appear as Serial number in console.

    Second option would be to predefine the machine if we know the MAC.

    You could also make a bootdisk to connect to your server if PXE does not work. Our environment cannot PXE boot

    YourServerDriveLetter:\Program Files\Altiris\Deployment\BDC\bootwiz\BootWiz.exe

     

    This will create a an ISO , I then make it into a USB boot disk ( we dont have cdroms )
