  • 1.  Unable to download trialware

    We recently purchased licenses for Symantec Protection Suite Enterprise Edition. I wanted to get started deploying it, so I attempted to download the trialware version, which will change to the full version after a valid key is entered. Unfortunately I am unable to do so. I am prompted to log in, and after entering my credentials one of two things happens. Either I get a message stating that it was unable to process my request at this time, please try later (for the past two days), or I get another login prompt with no indication that my login attempt failed. I did a "forgot password" request and had the password reset, but I am still encountering the same error. How should I proceed?

    The trial version of the Enterprise product cannot be upgraded to the licensed version.

    You will have to uninstall it manually to deploy the full version.

    I'm sure you are correct about not being able to activate a trial version, but the download link you gave me includes the following text:

    Here are the purchase options open to you:

     

    I had assumed that the last option meant that the trialware could be activated as the full version with a valid license.

    Incidentally, the download link you provided gives me the same error message when I try to download:

    Sorry! Your request could not be processed. Please try after some time.

    I believe the 'Purchase Option" statement is generic, and the last item does not apply to the current SPSEE version.

    SEP 12.1 may have this ability when it releases.

    The link works for me. What browser and version are you running?

    I tried two separate machines, one running Windows 7 64-bit with Internet Explorer 8 on our corporate network (ie. behind a proxy), and another running Windows XP also with IE 8 with a direct (well, through a Linksys router) connection to the internet.

    I do not have IE 8 to test ATM, I'm on Firefox 3.6.16.

    It works on IE7 for me.

    Just tested with Firefox 4.0 and got the same error. I guess I'll just wait until we get the actual license key and download it through the licensing site. Thanks for your help.
