  • 1.  Restoring .gho and .ghs image file on Windows 7

    Hello

I wanted to know if I restore a image on a new laptop (same make and model) that the the Ghost Boot Disk will restore the .ghs files as well? I thought I have read users running into problems with the .ghs files not restoring.

I have multiple files created when I created the image such as:

    test.gho
    test001.ghs
    test002.ghs
    .
    .
    .
    .
    test011.ghs

Each image is roughly 2.1GB in size.

I am restoring the image via over the network. I haven't proceeded with the restore yet either.

    Thank you

The .ghs files are the span files which coresspond to the image file.By default Ghost will create span files for every 2 GB .The main file is of extension .gho and the spans .ghs.All the spans correspond to the same image file .In your case the spans test001 through test011 correspond to the main image test.gho.Deleting or renaming any of the spans will create an inconsistency and image might end up unusable. When you restore an image , only the .gho will be available for selection and the respective spans files will be choosen automaically ,from the index values.
