  • 1.  Ghost won't recognize the tape drive on Dell PowerEdge 2900

Can't get Ghost 2003 to recognize the tape drive on a (brand new) Dell PowerEdge 2900.  The tape drive is a PowerVault 100T (DAT72). I've tried booting from floppies, booting from the CD and invoking Ghost from within Windows 2003 Server. I have the one and only driver Dell has written for this tape drive.  The drive is recognized in Device Manager. Any ideas?

I also tried ghosting to a Raid-5 partition and received and "Abort 40207 Error Message (Invalid Offset).

This is very-very old version of ghost. I am not sure that it was even supporting RAID back then. Have you considered upgrading yourself to the latest version of ghost? Current version is GSS 2.5 (ghost 11.5) and you can download trial version to see whether it helps you. I am not entirely sure whether this DOS driver will work, however you have an option of ghost running under Windows or Winpe, which will improve your chances.

    Hope this helps.
