  • 1.  Ghost Boot Disk creator can't find Window PE?

    I've installed the Windows ADK for the same version of Windows 10 that I have (1607) but when I try to create a Ghost Boot Disk using the disk creator tool, it says it can't find the Windows PE. I can see that the path it is looking in is the path that the ADK installed to.

    Also, I'm using the Ghost standard tools 3.2 trial when getting this error.

    Foo,

    Make sure the boot disc creator path points to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Kits\" or "C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Kits\10".

    It does point to C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Kits When I hit next, it brings up a loading bar and then says it can't find the PE environment files. I've tried a number of subdirectories under that as well, but it immediately says it can't use those directories instead of waiting until I ht next before it says it can't find the files.

    Foo,

    Do you have an anti-virus installed on that server? If so try disabling the AV and then re-installing the Windows ADK. AV's are known to corrupt the installation.

    I do have McAfee installed but it is disabled. I tried reinstalling, making sure it was disabled, just in case and still get the error. The exact error is "Missing operating system files".

    Mcafee is known for causing issues with Ghost and the ADK (kb on their own website). I would uninstall mcafee completely on the server, uninstall the ADK and the re-install the ADK and mcaffee. Also make sure you are running the ADK installer as an administrator (run click run as admin)

    Did removing Mcaffee and re-installing the ADK fix the issue?
