  • 1.  Problem in creating bootable USB from ghost32 image

    Hello, i'm facing a trouble in creating a USB bootable from an ghost32 image.

    What i have is : image with .GHO extension ( 9 GB , that contain 3 partions: system reserve , OS , free partiotion ) , and the ghost32.exe application.

    This image is to be used and booted on a server for reimaging.

    The steps i did:

    - open the ghost32

    -local - disk - from image

    -i specify the USB as is ( 14 GB )

    -Then i specify the ghost image.

    -then after ghost asking to create the image i click proceed.

    -Going to server, i have change the boot order to be from the USB as first boot priority. But the server isnt booted from.

    Question: is there any prerequiset to do for the USB before starting the above steps in ghost32 ?

    So ghost32 or 64 is ran from the USB drive on the system you are desireing to make an image of or restore an image to.   It is not intended to run in windows but from windows PE while booted from the USB drive. 

     

    Did you create the USB boot disk from a ghost ISO?  That often has issues using a third party tool to generate a USB bootable ghost disk.  You would need to plug the USB drive into the system that has the ghost program installed on and then run the boot disk creator to make that USB disk bootable.   

    Then you would boot up your client from that USB boot disk (client can be server or workstation) and then depending on your configureation you could map a drive to a location to save the image to or you could use ghost cast server running on the system with the ghost tools running on it.   Or you could save the image to a second drive like a usb drive.
