    Hi,

We are running Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.0.5 on one of our Servers and are running out of disk space on C drive which has a total capacity of 10GB.
I noticed that under the file path below the folder "I2_LDVP.TMP" is approx 4.5 GB in size. There are files in there that have been sitting in this folder for years. The latest files in the folder appear to have been modified in 2008. So I assume that whatever caused this issue in the first place is not occurring anymore. However, I am unable to delete these files as it gives me a message "Cannot delete msl-3250-1184". Make sure that the disk is not full or write protected or is not in use." I have stopped the Symantec Endpoint Protection service but still got the same message. Any help would be great.

    Folder Path: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection\I2_LDVP.TMP

You could start up in Safe Mode and try to remove the files that way.  (A 10 GB C drive, however, is a bit snug for a server these days.)

    hi,
you can also try by stopping SYmantec services to delete these files.

You might be able to use the Symantec recovery CD to boot off of and delete the files, or another option might be to download a ubuntu install ISO  from the web and boot off the CD and delete the files. Just an idea. Ubuntu has built-in NTFS support. I say this in case the files are locked and the files can't be deleted in safe mode.

    Thx for the replies.

Sandra, thanks I'll try that and let you know how i go. Your right 10GB is not alot but it's and old server in a remote office doing it's job.
Pete I've already tried stopping the Symantec Services didnt work. Mike I'll try that if Safe mode doesnt work.

okay, in that case following Sandra's suggestion will surely delete the files ( delete in safe mode).

    Hi,

Deleting in Safe mode did fix the problem. But a few weeks down the track it did the same thing and filled up the space again. Any idea how to stop it from happenning again?

    Hi All,

Looks like its resolved. Seems to be related to Enterprise Vault and Endpoint Protection. The vaulted items that kept re-appearing in this folder were were being recalled by Endpoint Protection after it would run it's scheduled scans. Symantec Endpoint Protection needed to be excluded from recalling vaulted items. See solution below.

    Thanks for your help.
