i'm evaluating SEPM (latest downloaded last night) and trying to deploy AV to a Windows 10 workstation. i have provided the correct admin credentials but it keeps saying cannot login. client cannot be installed on remote computer.

why is it so difficult to deploy to user computers?

check if you have disabled windows firewall and UAC is off and file and printer sharing is enabled.

or export the package, put is on a share and run it from remote computer

SEP 12.16. MP1 and later supports Windows 10.

    Please check the following:

Does pinging the remote computer returns the correct IP address? (If not there is an issue in DNS)

Is the remote computer is in a domain or workgroup?

Are you using a domian sdministration cred to authenticate the deployment? (If not try using one)

    Hello,

Make sure you have you have migrated the SEPM to the Latest version of 12.1. RU6 MP3

Secondly, when deploying the package via remote deployment on SEPM -

Before you deploy, perform the following tasks:

    • Disable the registry key LocalAccountTokenFilterPolicy.

To disable UAC remote restrictions, see:

      http://support.microsoft.com/kb/951016

    • Enable and start the Remote Registry service.

    • Disable or remove Windows Defender.

    Hi,

why is there so much work just to deploy? i mean, we've used Kaspersky before and OfficeScan (pre-2010) the only prerequisite is to disable the firewall.

now i have to enable remote registry (disabled by default).

i think i'm getting put off by all this prerequisites.

this is only for remote push, how many win 10 machines are in network?

you can just export the package and run it manually if they are few.

i have more than 2,000 remote machines. my prior strategy was to remote install, by batch, every week. running it manually is not an option for us.

thanks to all replies. i'll check some other AV solutions that'll fit my requirements.

If you have SCCM in place it will help you with deployments.

    thanks for the link.

to give everyone an idea of what i'm looking for, when we were OfficeScan users, we migrated to Kaspersky by simply invoking a remote push from the Kaspersky console and that remotely uninstalled OfficeScan and installed the Kaspersky client. all done perfectly without requiring anything from our part to do (like enabling remote registry and so on).

such feature i am looking for the next AV solution but unfortunately, all of what i've seen so far have prerequisites (read: too much work required) before it will do a remote push/install.

You forgot that what you did in the old days was, well, the old days.

Windows 10 is newer and is more 'locked down' - you could be seeing the same issue with other AV products anyway.
