Tech Tip: The CA Common Services for z/OS CAISUBU Utility displays the status of the subsystems installed by CAIRIM

Sep 03, 2015 04:20 PM

The Subsystem Utility, CAISUBU, lets you display the status of the subsystems that CAIRIM installed. The utility verifies the current status of the subsystems, their subsystem control table address, and their program initialization programs, if any.

The status display includes the four-character subsystem name, the SSCT address (of an internal z/OS data structure), the status of the subsystem, and the subsystem initialization program, if any.

The utility can be run as a batch job, as a started task, or from a TSO CLIST.

  • As a batch job – sample JCL for the utility is found in member CAISUB of CAW0JCL
  • As a started task – a sample proc for the utility is found in member CAISUBU of CAW0PROC
  • From a TSO CLIST – a sample CLIST is found in member CAICSUB of CAW0CLS0

A detailed description of CAISUBU can be can be obtained from Chapter 3: Resource Initialization Manager of the CA Common Services for z/OS r14.1 Administration Guide or from the CA Common Services for z/OS r14.1 Documentation wiki.
