Product Enhancements

CA NetMaster® Network Management Interface (NMI), is an integral component of the Network Management suite of solutions and is the next generation implementation of browser-based access to CA NetMaster®.

The following features are included with the CA NetMaster Network Management Interface.

  • IP summary data
  • IP Stack specific information
  • Alert monitoring and management

We encourage you to provide us with feedback on the CA NetMaster NMI and evaluate it as a replacement for CA NetMaster WebCenter.  Contact your support representative to let us know what you like and dislike, and if there is any specific functionality that you would like to see in the next release of NMI.

CA NetMaster Network Management Interface Prerequisites

Before you install the CA NetMaster NMI, you must have CA NetMaster Network Management for TCP/IP R12.1 installed on your system.

To access data currently available in WebCenter, but not included in the CA NetMaster NMI, the ability to run the WebCenter interface in conjunction with the CA NetMaster NMI has been provided.

Getting Started

CA strongly recommends that the CA NetMaster NMI be installed using CA CSM.  CA supports the following installation methods, both of which use SMP/E:

  • Installation using CA CSM
  • Pax-Enhanced Electronic Software Delivery download for tapeless installation

This GA release of the CA NetMaster NMI contains four PTFs (see General Information) that prepare your environment for installation.

For detailed instructions on how to customize the JCL apply each PTF, view the HOLDDATA specific to that PTF.

The CA NetMaster NMI product package consists of the following PTFs:

  • RO86570 - CA NetMaster NMI updates to the existing NetMaster installation
  • RO97296 - Distribute JCL Samples to Create zFS Filesystem
  • RO87683 - Install CA NetMaster NMI into USS
  • RO88444 - Infinite Loop in Module $W3BD13S

To download software, use one of the following methods:

"Acquire using the CA Chorus™ Software Manager (CA CSM) Product Acquisition Service
"Visit the Download Center on CA Support Online http://support.ca.com/

Follow these steps to install the CA NetMaster NMI:

1.Customize the JCL provided with PTF RO86570 to meet site specific requirements and apply the PTF. This fix adds JSON encoding and Web Socket support to your system.
2.Run the jobs provided in PTF RO97296 to create the ZFS filesystem required to install the NMI.
3.Apply PTF RO87683, which contains the NMI.
4.Customize and run the JCL provided in PTF RO88444. Apply this fix last.
