Tech Tip: View all History records via the Get History tab in XCOM GUI

Aug 31, 2016 01:48 PM

CA XCOM Data Transport checks security by verifying that the user requesting history records is a member of the XCOMADM group and/or the XCOMSADM group. CA XCOM Data Transport returns records as follows:

       •  If the user is not a member of either XCOMADM or XCOMSADM, then the transfers returned are limited to those containing that user's user ID.

       •  If the user is a member of XCOMADM, then CA XCOM Data Transport does both of the following:

             ◦ Returns transfers in the queue for all users and allows operator functions against those transfers.

             ◦ Returns history records for all transfers for the target machine (SYSNAME, SYSID), regardless of the owner.

       •  If the user is also a member of XCOMSADM, then CA XCOM Data Transport returns history records for any machine included in the history table.

So, in order to view all users History records in the queue via the "Get History" tab from our XCOM GUI, you would need to define the XCOMADM group on your Windows Server. To do that on Windows

    - go to >Start > Adminstrative Tools > Computer Management > Local Users and Groups

    - click on Local Users and Groups

    - right click on Groups folder and New Groups

    - specify "xcomadm" in the "Group name" and click on the Add button to add members to the group.

    - click Create

    - follow the same instructions to add group "xcomsadm"

Note: The above instructions to add a Group may vary depending on your release of Windows.
