CA Technologies Application Development Eclipse User Interface  Installation Option Change Notification

Jun 01, 2018 09:30 AM

Effective JUNE 1, 2018, CA Technologies will stabilize the Eclipse RCP installation option, i.e. will no longer provide features and enhancements. Effective JANUARY 1, 2019, CA Technologies will terminate all support for the Eclipse RCP installation option and will no longer package the RCP with the Eclipse Plugins.

Historically, CA Technologies has offered two options for installing the Eclipse user interface for specific application development products. CA InterTest™, CA SymDump®, CA File Master™ Plus, and CA Mainframe Application Tuner (CA MAT) all offered their Eclipse user interfaces as either a standalone executable build included with the Eclipse RCP or as an Eclipse plugin. Customers could choose either installation. However, we are changing these options.

For approximately a six-month period (between June 1, 2018 and December 31, 2018), while the Eclipse RCP installation option is stabilized, CA Technologies will continue to support that option. This support includes responding to questions, investigating issues, and delivering fixes to defects. Full support for the Eclipse plugins will continue.

Beginning January 1, 2019, CA Technologies will deliver only the Eclipse plugin installation option for all new releases (including incrementals) for the products listed above. Please note, there will be no loss of functionality in any of the Eclipse plugins with the elimination of the Eclipse RCP installation option.

This change allows us to focus on integrating multiple plugins within the same integrated development environment (IDE), while providing our customers with a simple, straightforward method of installing their product’s Eclipse user interfaces into comprehensive Eclipse-based IDEs such as CA Development Environment for z Systems and other Eclipse-based development tools.

For more information about installing the plugins or the Eclipse-based IDEs, read the following documentation:

The CA MAT Eclipse Remote Application Platform (Eclipse RAP), which is delivered as part of the CA MAT product and is accessible through the web browser, remains unaffected by this change.

Please contact dejan.milinkovic@ca.com if you have any questions or concerns regarding this change or if you need further assistance installing the Eclipse plugins or CA Development environment for z Systems.
