Would love to see new parsing commands added to Easytrieve.

We have been rewriting SAS programs; have replaced many with Easytrieve.

However, quite a few have been converted to DFSORT because the parsing capabilities within Easytrieve are not up to par with other programming languages(ie: DFSORT, Cobol intrinsic functions and reference modification).

If I want to do any 'advanced' parsing of bytes; it must be done programmatically.

    Hi Doug,

thank you for reaching out. That is an understandable feature request. As we are in the middle of improving Easytrieve, your feature request will be considered and possibly queued for development. I can't promise any date though.

I am a trainer for Easytrieve and met with the Systems group in
Prague in 2018 as version 11.6 was rolled out.
Another outstanding request I have run into over the years is the
ability to put a MASK on alphanumeric fields.
Currently, it can only be done on numeric or packed fields.
Glad to see this group is active.
