    To our valued NetMaster community:

NetMaster users can now configure their TCP/IP environment to use IBM's Network Management Interface (NMI) to collect connection, termination, and zERT detail information. Two new packet analyzer parameters allow you to specify how SMF 119 subtypes 1, 2, and 11 are obtained in your environment:

    • The PATCPSMFNMI parameter determines whether subtype 1 and 2 records (connection initiation and termination) are obtained with SMF exits or with the SYSTCPCN NMI.

    • The PAZERTSMFNMI parameter determines whether subtype 11 records (zERT connection detail) are obtained with SMF exits or with the SYSTCPER NMI.

The NMI provides an alternative to SMF exits, and allows you to better manage the potentially large number of records that could accumulate when you collect SMF 119 records. You can obtain valuable connection and zERT detail information to proactively manage your network without having to manage SMF exits.

To take advantage of the NMI option, apply PTFs LU11822, LU11823, and LU11824.

For an overview of this functionality, including links to details, refer to the New Features topic in the NetMaster Network Management for TCP/IP documentation.
