  • 1.  MDI and dynamic Extend??

    Posted 12 days ago
Sorry, I'm getting old.  I've used MDI for many years. Recently, I tried to implement MDI on a client that had never used it. I set the dynamic extend for index as shown thin the doc and went about making my I01 and I02.  When I ran a CXX report, my IXX shows dynamic extend as YES but my I01 and I02 as NO.  What did I miss?

Good morning, Phil. The first thing I would check here is if you have SO06945 (affects module DBCAPPR) applied. It is from 2019, so I would expect that you do, but would still check. The most current maintenance on DBCAPPR is LU06941 (5Nov22), if you are browsing the load module for the RMID( ) value.

If this checks out, please tell us how you implemented the MDI for them - did you use the DDUPDATE "1000 ALTER" process, or something else?

Also, Phil, if you do not have that solution applied, you can Newcopy only the DBCAPPR module, and do not need to recycle the MUF to pick up the new version. You can then run the 1000/1500 DDUPDATE, and it should show that the IXX and the I## indicies have Dynamic Extend enabled.

MDI was implemented using BTG members. The DB level IXX info was coded for dynamic extend.  Then the I01, I02 were added. Nothing was altered.  Client is yet to get current with maintenance. So, I'll have to wait on any solutions.
Q- You can then run the 1000/1500 DDUPDATE, and it should show that the IXX and the I## indicies have Dynamic Extend enabled.
Why would we need to do this? Shouldn't any MDI index dataset inherit whatever the IXX had?
