Subject: General Availability Announcement for WatchTower z/IRIS New HTTP Header Capturing into Span Tags from z/OS Connect REST API Transactions
On behalf of Broadcom, we appreciate your business and the opportunity to provide you with high-quality, innovative software and services. As part of our ongoing commitment to customer success, we are pleased to announce the General Availability (GA) of the following feature PTF:
LU14427 – Capture headers into span tags from z/OS Connect REST API transactions
z/IRIS OpenTelemetry (OTel) Traces provide customers with transaction level tracking and performance data from z/OS applications within the scope of the end-to-end business request. In this release, z/IRIS users will be able to capture context that is available as HTTP headers in REST API requests processed through z/OS Connect. This OPT-IN feature allows users to easily control which request or response headers are captured into the z/OS Connect spans produced by the z/IRIS IronTap server. Once enabled, the headers will be available in the target observability tool(s) using user interfaces for trace searches, analysis and/or filtering.
The WatchTower Platform z/IRIS technical documentation provides instructions on how to enable this feature and lists the OTel span tags that are used.
Please review the Feature Fix and the WatchTower Platform - z/IRIS documentation for more information. If you have any questions or require assistance, contact Support.
