We have had the most excellent question this week:
May the maintenance for CA Easytrieve Plus Report Generator Release 6.4 0311 be installed within CSM, and is this advised?
CA Easytrieve Plus release 6.4 product does need to be installed outside of CSM.
The CSI may be then be migrated under the SMP/e environment and refreshed.
Certainly, you can then go under 'Maintenance' and view the PTFS to see which were received and applied.
However, several of our PTFs for CA Easytrieve Plus release 6.4 0311 have the following Installation Notes:
*** Installation Notes ***
This APAR may be installed "as is" to a 0311 genlevel upgrade. If the 0311 genlevel was
installed as a new install, (and not as an upgrade), the SMP control parameters for
this APAR must be modified before it can be applied. That modification is to remove the "PRE" parm.
So, because of this possible manual modification of removing the "PRE" statement from the APAR before receiving and applying it,
CA Easytrieve Plus Report Generator release 6.4 is not conducive to having PTFs received and applied from within CSM.
Please know that CA Easytrieve release 11.6 can be installed via CSM along with the available maintenance.
