    Hi .

When upgrading Ca-Deliver , is it necessary to load the banner pages? We have a lot customised banner pages.

    Hello Alex,

I am a CA Deliver support engineer for CA Technologies and would like to answer your question.

    .

When upgrading from one release to another, you should upgrade the banners in case there have been changes or additions to any banners. Prior to the upgrade, make sure the customized banners are in a separate library to preserve and protect them during the upgrade.

Next, upgrade CA Deliver and run the RMODBASE BLOAD pointing at the new upgraded banner library.  Review the members that you have customized to see if any changes have been made to these banners.

If there ARE changes to the new banners, move your customization to the new banners.

If there are NO changes to the new banners, you can run a second RMODBASE BLOAD to reload the customized banners into the new database.

    Hello Cheryl.

Maybe you can answer another question ? We are about to upgrade to z/os 2.1 , and we are currently running Ca-Deliver 11.0. Can 11.0 run on a z/os 2.1 system ? From CA support i found the following :

TITLE:  Z/OS 2.1 SUPPORT FOR CA DELIVER

     Last revision date 06/15/2014      GTB

This solution contains support information for CA Deliver
    for z/OS 2.1.

    Release: 12.2, Base
              12.1, Base
              12.0, Base
              11.7, Base
              11.6, Service Pack 0

    OPERATING SYSTEM COMPATIBILITY:
There is no PTF written specifically for:
    z/OS 2.1.

    HARDWARE/DEVICE COMPATIBILITY:
There are no known incompatibilities when CA Deliver
    for z/OS executed on z/OS 2.1 system.

I am asking , because we are not sure that all Bundles are completet , at the time we upgrade zos to 2.1 and Ca-Deliver to 11.7.

    Regards Alex Nielsen

    Hello Alex,

CA Technologies tests all supported releases of our products in a each z/OS

    environment when it becomes GA.

Ca Deliver 11.0 is out of support, so that release was not tested in the z/OS

2.1 environment.  We have started the CA Deliver task and it came up but we

can not verify that all functions are available.

    Regards,

    Cheryl

    Hi Cheryl.

The reason i asked , is that we plan to upgrade zos - > 2.1  Ca-View 11.0 > 11.7 , and Ca-Deliver 11.0 > 11.7 at the same time , for a new customer .. My concerns is that the "Batch Flow" , will not be finish , and hence all the bundles will be "incomplete" "NPROD/BNLDWAIT"  status. I would prefer upgrade Ca-Deliver , after  "Batch flow" has completet  , and all bundles are complete . Any advice ?

    Regards Alex

    Hi Again.

    Correction :

I would prefer upgrade Ca-Deliver , after  upgrade zos 2.1 , Ca-View 11.7 , and "Batch flow" has completet  , and all bundles are complete . Any advice ?

    Hello Alex,

You should be able to upgrade z/OS to 2.1 first  We do not have any cases reporting problems in this area.

Since CA Deliver 11.0 can run with CA View 11.7, you should be able to upgrade CA View to 11.7 next.  As

long as the batch flow proceeds without a problem, you should be able to wait until everything including the

bundles have completed before the CA Deliver upgrade.
