CA IDMS Tuesday Tip by Edward Gorga, Principal Support Engineer for October 8, 2014
The procedures for daylight saving time changes for IDMS are documented in informational PTF QI52458.
This has recently been updated with the changes made to IDMS 18.5:
CA IDMS R18.5 contains new UTC time processing routines and uses
UTC time stamps. External times are still entered and
displayed in local time. Internally, times are in UTC, so most
processing is unaffected by changing the time zone or local
date/time in the system. Log records now contain UTC time stamps.
Journal records already contain UTC timestamps.
As a result, CA IDMS 18.5 z/OS CVs and z/OS local batch and
z/OS batch-to-CV jobs can remain active while the system time
is advanced or set back one hour. z/VSE sites should follow
the same procedure as documented below for CA IDMS R17.0 z/VSE.
Note: Program IDMSDST has been de-activated and will no longer
be invoked when there is a change in Daylight Saving Time.
If you are running a release prior to 18.5 then you still need to follow the procedures in QI52458.
