CA InterTest for CICS may be used in conjunction with IBM’s EXEC Diagnostic Facility (commonly known as EDF).   The one requirement is that EDF needs to be turned on before monitoring the program with CA InterTest for CICS.  EDF can then be activated during monitoring by stopping at a Request Breakpoint (RBP) and entering any non-blank character in the EDF field located in the lower right hand corner of the Detailed Breakpoint Display.

When using CA InterTest for CICS and EDF together, please be aware of the following:

A breakpoint set at an EXEC CICS command will occur before control is passed to CICS.

If a user wants to make any changes to the parameters of the command, do so before allowing CA Intertest for CICS to continue the task.

Unless the task is halted at an Automatic Breakpoint (ABP) by CA Intertest for CICS, the command is passed to the EXEC CICS interface and EDF for command execution.

Once EDF is given control, any changes made to the command while halted at the EDF breakpoint cannot be checked by CA InterTest for CICS.

Once EDF has completed its processing and gives up control, CA Intertest for CICS will resume control and continue monitoring.

Details on using CA InterTest for CICS and EDF can be found in the "Special Monitoring Situations" (Chapter 8) of the CA InterTest for CICS r8.5 User Guide.
