At CA World'13, the CA Datacom group announced the availability of CA Datacom SQL Web Connect.

SQL Web Connect provides the ability to install and implement the SQL and Server options into active zOS CA Datacom/DB v14.0 site that does not currently have licenses for the SQL and/or Server options.
Sites running the SQL Web Connect will be able to utilize the dynamic SQL capabilities of DBSQLPR (batch SQL) and ODBC/JDBC (Server) with a limit of two concurrent users per LPAR.

This functionality will enable database administrators to utilize SQL to manage performance data (Dynamic System Tables, AutoScope databases) as well as create ad-hoc reports, create data extracts to upload to tools such as Microsoft EXCEL and even do user data table updates. The Server functionality will provide the capability to build application prototypes and use tools such as Microsoft Excel, Acess and even crystal reports to extract and report on CA Datacom data. Included in the offering are the CA Datacom SQL extensions that allows uses to build DATACOM VIEWs over non-relational data formats.

CA Datacom SQL Web Connect is currently being offered in BETA status for zOS Datacom sites. Sites interested in testing this new offering should contact Kevin Shuma (Kevin.Shuma@ca.com) or CA technical support.

    Requirements for BETA:
    - active zOS CA Datacom/DB license
    - an zOS CA Datacom/DB V14 installation (test environment)
    - appropriate CA Common Services installation.
