We are pleased to announce that Version 19.0 of the CA Database Management Solutions for DB2 for z/OS Complete GA Release is now available. The incremental release program for Version 19.0 of the CA Database Management Solutions for DB2 for z/OS has formally concluded. All new features and maintenance introduced during the program have been incorporated into this “complete” release.
Highlights for this release include:
- Performance improvements and cost savings:
- Capture access path information for SQL that references temporary objects and on-demand rebind compare analysis in CA Plan Analyzer for DB2 for z/OS
- Getpage sampling usage in CA Subsystem Analyzer for DB2 for z/OS lowers overhead
- Asynchronous collection tasks in CA Detector for DB2 for z/OS shifts work to zIIP
- Redesign of database exceptions in CA SYSVIEW Performance Management Option for DB2 consume a fraction of the CPU consumed in previous releases
- Improvements in CA Log Analyzer for DB2 for z/OS for applying “mass-inserts” from the DB2 log
- Flashcopy support during data cloning (data set or object level) within CA RC/Migrator for DB2 for z/OS (RC/Merger) significantly eliminates CPU costs and elapsed times
- Other zIIP related improvements to reduce Total Cost of Ownership on the mainframe
- Increased interoperability with IBM tools, including:
- Option within CA RC/Migrator for DB2 for z/OS Utility Profile Services to use IBM UNLOAD as the preferred unload tool
- Enhancements within CA RC/Query for DB2 for z/OS, CA Plan Analyzer for DB2 for z/OS, and CA SYSVIEW Performance Management Option for DB2 to accelerate implementation of IBM DB2 Analytics Accelerator (IDAA)
- Enhanced higher availability features to remove or minimize application outages when performing administration tasks
- Product quality and simplified installation/upgrade
- Enhanced DB2 version support for the supported DB2 versions:
- DB2 10 NFM (New Function Mode) only
- DB2 11 all modes
- DB2 12 function level V12R1M100, for migration from DB2 11, and new function level V12R1M500 only
Note: The incremental release program for Version 20.0 of the CA Database Management Solutions for DB2 for z/OS will support additional DB2 12 function levels.
