    Hello,

Since the implementation of version 14.3 of MICS in HARVPA we have lost the VPACAP variable and in HARLPC we have lost the LPCCAP variable as we need these variables, are there replacement variables. Thank you !

    Hello Michel,

Included in the 14.3 release is product change, RMF7130, that obsoleted some capping
related data elements in the HARCPU and HARLPC files.  Included in this product change was an appendix
that discusses important changes to capping related data elements and will help you understand how
to deal with reporting and analysis if you currently use some of the data elements obsoleted (and replaced) by RMF7130.
I have attached the Appendix to this post for reference.
If you still have further questions after reviewing this appendix please let me know.

    Thanks & Regards,

    Hello,

We have installed the new version of MICS 14.3 in one of our environments, and in the daily processing I end up with a code U0999 at step DAY020: . (SEC.CC) HHH:MM:SS <16M >16M >2G <16M >16M
     . DAYALL MICS IKJEFT1B 0000 7763 05.20 00.25 000:00:25 11240K 1764M 4096M 1676K 38M
     . DAY020 MICS MACTL U0999 48503 134.72 01.63 000:04:23 11240K 1764M 4096M 1420K 93M.

The error is at: ERROR: BY variable CPCID is not on input data set MONTHS.HARCRP00.
NOTE: The SAS System stopped processing this step because of errors.

Should I regenerate the members with jclgen.. if yes which member I take and is it complex or unit level.

    Hi Michel,
I was about to respond, but Ryan beat me to it.
LPCCAP did not disappear.  It was redefined to be a far more useful "LPAR capping summary info" data element.
The original VPACAP and LPCCAP variables were introduced to MICS when there was only one type of capping, and one type of core (CP). So it was easy to say "LPAR capping is on or off or changed.
In today's world IBM has many flavors of capping, and multiple core types where capping can be set independently of other core types.
As Ryan said in his response, the APPENDIX B in the RMF7130 PC.TEXT explained the problems that RMF7130 fixed related to capping.
Whatever you were originally using VPACAP and LPCCAP for, there are a multitude of new data elements introduced with RMF7130 that describe the capping status for all "capping flavors" and all core types.

If you have issues understanding how to update your MICS reporting using the enhanced capping support provided by RMF7130, please open a case with the MICS support team.

    Best regards,
    Darrell Faulkner
