    Datacom CADRE Community members,

    The Datacom development group is pleased to announce the general availability of VSAM Linear Datasets for Datacom/DB data area datasets as of April 18, 2022.  (Support for index area datasets was previously delivered.)

    This feature also enables the use of IBM Pervasive Encryption for both Datacom/DB index and data datasets.

    For those datasets at blocksizes that are acceptable to VSAM, the Online Area Move facility can be used to migrate data – without an outage -- from existing BDAM (EXCP) to Linear VSAM (Media Manager) datasets.  (For data datasets with other blocksizes, additional no-outage migration support will be provided in a subsequent delivery.)
