I would like to know if anyone else is using 3rd party software FDR (Fast
Dump Restore) to compress disk packs. We currently use it to compress
non-Datacom/db packs (VSAM, PDS, * sequential files) and I would like to
know if we can use it on Datacom/db packs.
I believe we will have to bring down Datacom/db multiuser during the
compress process. As I understand, the utility will backup (track by track)
all files on disk, reformat disk and reload files to recover fragmented
space. The files will be loaded on different track sectors than before.
Any Datacom/db issues - i.e. CXX that would prevent us from using FDR
compacts on Datacom/db packs (3380 & 3390)?
